This Spring, the Rotary Club of Sharpstown will sponsor a special fund raiser through a Wine Tasting Dinner along with a Silent Auction. This great fun event will take place on Saturday, April 17, 2010. The event will kick off at 6:30 PM and will be held at the Hilton Houston Southwest, Savoy at the Southwest Freeway (just south of Hillcroft). The menu is grilled salmon (the default entre) served with Garden salad, Chef's selection of seasonal vegetables, Chef's selection of an appropriate starch, warm rolls with whipped butter and a dessert. For those who do not wish the salmon an entre of Chicken Basil (chicken breast topped with a light basil cream sauce) is available by request. Any entre substitutions must be made known by April 13th. This fund raiser will allow the club to continue funding support for local service organizations. Here is a partial list of the funding given in the 2008-2009 Rotary Year (July-June): $2,000 – College scholarships $2,000 - Vocation School Scholarships $1,000 – Star of Hope Mission $1,000 – Impact A Hero (Impact Player Partners) $1,000 – Rolling Thunder to benefit U.S. Vets $1,000 – Mentors of Hope, Lee High School $ 500 – Sugar Creek Elementary for a "High Tech Hands-On" teaching program Auction donations are welcome.
