About Rotary International

Rotary is the world’s premier international humanitarian service organization. We are a diverse global network of community, business, and professional leaders who address relevant social causes to change lives and build goodwill and peace at home and abroad.

The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. The Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better world.

Polio Eradication

One of the international missions of Rotary is to eradicate polio, an effort started in 1988 with the World Health Organization, when 1,000 children were infected every day in 125 countries, to less than 1,400 cases reported last year, in 4 countries.

Polio eradication is within our grasp. But if we don’t eradicate the disease now, the risk of crippling and deadly polio outbreaks will continue to threaten the world’s children. Learn about the challenges to polio eradication and the current strategies that Rotary and its polio eradication partners are using.

You can help Rotary get the job done by contributing to Rotary’s PolioPlus program or volunteering and creating awareness of polio.
