Jenn, a professional musician from Austin, is the daughter of Louis and granddaughter of Sylvan and Betty Miori so her roots run deep in Caney soil. Jenn handles vocals and guitar and is backed up by fiddle, mandolin and banjo in the traditional bluegrass style. Her influences in music run the gamut from Jimmie Rogers, Bill Monroe and Hazel Dickens to Bob Wills, The Carter Family, coffee houses and “stuff that’s old and neat” she says.

Jenn Miori and Bluegrass Story, even the name has a melodic, rhythmic sound. Jenn has traveled the nation performing Bluegrass. She’s a regular from Austin to Anchorage. The 19th annual Rotary Gala XIX will be held at the Wharton Civic Center at 1924 N. Fulton St., Wharton, Texas 77488 (see map below).  Social hour begins at 6:00 pm and the featured entertainers begin at 8:00 pm.  Between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm, enjoy our buffet of delicious food and drinks and bid on our many Silent Auction items.  In addition, we offer entertainment during the reception, along with clowns and ropers from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

At the suggestion of many sponsors and attendees the concert style and ambiance of the original Rotary Gala format will return this year, Saturday, September 25^th at the Wharton Civic Center, 6 pm.  Round tables will be kept but seating will be up close and personal without the dance floor.  The fabulous Riders In The Sky, who were such a big hit here in 1996, will return with their incredible musical and comedic skills. This foursome is the only western musical group to ever win a Grammy and they have won two. They are also members of The Grand Ole Opry and have won more awards than you can imagine over a 40 year period and they are still going strong.

Riders In The Sky consists of: Guitarist Ranger Doug, “Governor of the Great State of Rhythm,” who sings lead, baritone, and yodels some breathtaking numbers; Accordionist Joey, “The Cowpolka King,” master of the “Stomach Steinway” who has recorded with everyone from Roy Rogers to U2; Woody Paul, “King of the Cowboy Fiddlers,” a protégé of Roy Acuff, who also dazzles the crowd with rope tricks he swears he’ll get right before his career is over; and Upright “bunkhouse” bassist Too Slim, easily the sharpest wit in the West. Besides his comic genius he has also inspired thousands to whack out tunes by playing their face. Yes, he actually plays his face.
